Presently, Wyoming no longer owns and operates its own state-sponsored 529 Plan. Wyoming terminated its state sponsored 529 college savings plan in 2006, distributing all account balances to their accountholders.
At that time, Wyoming reached an agreement with the state of Colorado where Wyoming residents could participate in any of Colorado’s. 529 savings programs under the same terms as Colorado residents through 2011.
As ranked by Forbes and Investopedia, here are the best 529 plans that accept out-of-state enrollments. Wyoming residents are encouraged to view these state plans.
- New Hampshire UNIQUE College Investing Plan: Has high contribution limits.
- New York 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan: Plan has very low fees and “terrific track record” for performance.
